Tour Description
The one-day Agra Day Tour Packages cover a remarkable journey to the classic ‘city of white marble’, Agra. The city of Agra offers a glimpse into the splendor of bygone times. Agra boasts a wealth of historical structures that are dispersed throughout the city. In the epic Mahabharata, the city is referred to as “Agravana,” which is Sanskrit for “paradise.” Sikandar Lodi, the 16th-century king of the Lodi dynasty, established modern-day Agra. The peak of Agra’s architectural splendor was attained when Shah Jahan abdicated the Mughal monarchy. Situated on the Yamuna River’s bank, the city is located in the western region of Uttar Pradesh. Even though the Taj Mahal’s incredible charm draws tourists from all over the world to Agra, it is not the only attraction. There is a fascinating mausoleum and tomb path around the city. Renowned for its opulent handicrafts such as Pietra Dura (marble inlay) work, rugs, leather products, and the luscious Petha, Agra also serves as a great destination for foodies and shopaholics alike.
Tour Itinerary
The Agra Day Tour Packages will kickstart with your arrival at the Delhi Airport. Get greeted by our agent and thereafter, get comfortably transported to Agra. The drive will take around 4 hours. On arriving in Agra, check-in at the hotel. Rest for a while and get ready for the sightseeing tour of the city of marbles. Here, you will explore the following sites:
Taj Mahal: One of the seven wonders of the world and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Taj Mahal is the epitome of eternal love and an exemplary work of art that showcases the brilliance of Mughal architecture. Located on the bank of the Yamuna, it was built by Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his beloved wife and Queen Mumtaz Mahal in 1631. The white marble used to build the Taj Mahal is what gives it a mesmerizing look. The monument stands on a raised marble platform. The arches of the monument are adorned with embellishments of Pietra Dura scrollwork and verses from the Quran.
Visit the Taj Mahal at sunset and take a lot of pictures. It’s breathtaking to see the sun set over the Yamuna River with the Taj Mahal in the background.
Agra Fort: Next on your one-day Agra Day Tour Packages, you’ll visit the Agra Fort. This massive red sandstone fort was built under the commission of Emperor Akbar and later completed by Shah Jahan. The fort was built primarily as a military structure, but Shah Jahan transformed it into a palace. In a later period, the fort became the gilded prison of Shah Jahan, where he was imprisoned for eight years until his death by his son Aurangzeb. The fort encompasses Diwan-e-Khas, which originally held Shah Jahan’s fabled Peacock throne and the diamond Koh-I-Noor; Khas Mahal, which is a white octagonal palace and tower; and Shish Mahal, which is a palace with walls inlaid with small mirrors.
Itmad-Ud-Daula’s tomb: It is a mausoleum constructed in the loving memory of Noor Jahan’s father, Mirza Ghias Beg. It is thought that this elaborate tomb predates the Taj Mahal and is referred to as the ‘Baby Taj’ because it has minarets (towers) that bear resemblance to those of the Taj Mahal. It exudes a stunning charm to guests and was the first tomb in India to be made entirely of white marble.
Akbar’s Tomb:Akbar’s Tomb at Sikandra is another tourist attraction in Agra that you’ll explore on your one-day Agra Day Tour Packages. The monument was constructed by Emperor Akbar and later completed by his son Jahangir. This tomb is the resting place of the emperor. Built of red sandstone and marble, the interior of the tomb is adorned with exquisite calligraphy, which reflects some of the notable works from the period of Akbar’s reign. The fort is outlined by a Charbagh style garden, which is another attraction of the place.
Chini Ka Rauza: It is a mausoleum of Afzal Khan Mullah, Shah Jahan’s Prime Minister and a Persian poet. Situated 1 km away from Itmad-Ud-Daula’s tomb, this monument is a prelude to an exotic Persian art style. Blue-glazed tiles made from “Chini Mitti” or “Chinese Clay,” which is said to have been brought from China, were used in the construction of this structure.
Jama Masjid: Your one-day Agra Day Tour Packages are incomplete without the visit to Jama Masjid. Built in the 17th century under the commission of Shah Jahan, this mosque is one of the largest mosques built by the Mughals in India. There is an open forecourt enclosed within the mosque, which was constructed by Jahanara Begum, Shah Jahan’s favorite daughter. The monument was built in Iranian-inspired architecture and took 5000 workers and 6 years to complete.
Mehtab Bagh: Facing the majestic Taj Mahal, Mehtab Bagh is a park located on the bank of the Yamuna River. Emperor Babur originally established this park as the last of eleven parks on the Yamuna’s bank. Being in perfect alignment with the Taj Mahal, this place provides a delightful view of the great mausoleum.
Guru Ka Taal: Guru Ka Taal is a popular Gurudwara in Agra. Constructed in the 1970s, this place is claimed to have been visited by four of the ten Sikh gurus. This stunning structure is one of India’s most breathtaking architectural wonders, and every year, hundreds of devotees flock here to pay tribute to the great Sikh guru.
If time permits, you can also visit other tourist attractions in and around Agra, like Mariam’s Tomb, Ram Bagh, and Nagina Masjid.
With this, your one-day Agra Day Tour Packages comes to an end. In the evening, take a stroll in the local markets to shop for handicrafts and try Petha, which is the famous sweet of Agra. You’ll then be dropped off at the hotel, where you can spend some leisure time.
