Tour Description
The one-day Jaipur Sightseeing Day Tour covers a remarkable journey to the capital city of Rajasthan, Jaipur. Jaipur is known as ‘Pink City’ because of the pink-painted sandstone used in the construction of its buildings. Jaipur traces its origins back to 1727, when it was established under the rule of Jai Singh II and was the first planned city in India. This royal town is famous for its exemplary royal legacy and architecture, which is an amalgamation of Hindu, Mughal, and Western cultures. This city represents the nine divisions of the universe through its nine rectangular sections, as per Vedic architecture, making it the only one of its kind in the world. Jaipur is well-known for its magnificent palaces and forts. It welcomes visitors from all over the world with its amazing attractions located around the city. Jaipur’s rich cultural legacy is evident in the city’s traditions, customs, way of life, artwork, and architecture. Jaipur made its official entry into the UNESCO World Heritage Site list recently in 2019.
Tour Itinerary
At the Jaipur International Airport, a representative from our India Wonderland will extend a warm greeting to you and start the Jaipur Sightseeing Day Tour. You will then proceed in the direction of the hotel. When you arrive, check into the hotel. Take a short nap and prepare for the “Pink City” sightseeing excursion. Here, you will explore the following sites:
Hawa Mahal: This uniquely built 5-story structure of pink sandstone was constructed by Maharaja Sawai Pratap Singh Hawa Mahal in 1799. Originally built as a summer retreat for the king’s family, this place is now one of the most popular tourist sites in Jaipur. The palace has around 953 honeycomb-shaped latticed windows, resembling the crown of Lord Krishna, along with hanging cornices and balconies that allow the breeze to let in; hence, it’s also popularly called the ‘Palace of Winds’. It also served as a place where the ladies of the royal household could enjoy street scenes and royal processions without being seen.
Amber Fort: Also referred to as Amer Fort, this place is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. A seven-century-old grand palace situated at a distance of about 11 kilometers from Jaipur atop the Aravalli Hills, this place provides a magnificent view of the entire city’s landscape. Made entirely of red sandstone and white marble and adorned with splendid interior designs, this palace was once the bastion of the Kachhwaha Rajputs of Amber. The breathtaking view of Maota Lake in front of the palace adds to its grandeur. You can enjoy an elephant ride to the entrance of the fort.
The Jal Mahal: Next on your one-day Jaipur Sightseeing Day Tour, you’ll visit the Jal Mahal. Jal Mahal, literally translated as “Water Palace,” was built by Maharaja Madho Singh in the traditional Rajput style, using symmetrical pink sandstone. This palace was originally built to be used as a hunting lodge for the king and his entourage. Being located in the center of Jaipur’s Man Sagar Lake, the palace offers a floating appearance. The light-colored sandstone walls, creating a sharp contrast with the deep blue lake, make this place one of the most photographed spots in Jaipur.
The City Palace is one of Jaipur’s most important architectural landmarks, with a refined blend of Mughal and Rajasthani architecture. It was founded in 1727 by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II as part of his ambitious city project. A portion of this palace is converted into a museum, while a smaller section of the palace is still home to the last ruling royal family. The Armoury Museum, a section of the museum in the palace housing an impressive array of weaponry like pistols, swords, rifles, and daggers, is yet another attraction of this palace.
Jantar Mantar: Your one-day Jaipur Sightseeing Day Tour is incomplete without a visit to Jantar Mantar. Of the five astronomical observatories constructed by Jaipur’s founder, Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II, Jantar Mantar in Jaipur is regarded as the largest and is currently recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This observatory is said to contain sixteen geometrical instruments, all in working condition, that are used to track celestial bodies, measure time, and chart the planets’ orbits around the sun. Additionally, it has the Interpretation Centre, which provides tourists with information about the observatory’s history and operational principles.
Jaigarh Fort: Constructed in 1726 AD by Sawan Jai Singh II and situated atop the Hill of Eagles of the Aravalli Range, the fort provides expansive views over its surroundings. Despite its ancient construction, it still retains most of its impressive citadel appearance. You can see the “Jaivana Cannon,” which is the biggest cannon in the world, within the fort.
Albert Hall and Museum: The exquisitely built Albert Hall is housed in the center of Ram Niwas Garden. It is also known as the Government Central Museum. Albert Edward, the Prince of Wales, laid the foundation stone for Albert Hall during a visit to Jaipur in 1876. Created in the Indo-Saracenic pattern, the museum now serves as home to the Museum of Art and Antiquities.
If time permits, you can also experience the Light and Sound Show at Jainiwas Udhyan, which is one of the first 3-D projection mapping-based light and sound shows in Rajasthan.
With this, your one-day Jaipur Sightseeing Day Tour comes to an end. In the evening, visit the ethnic village of Chokhi Dhani to get an idea of Rajasthan’s rich cultural legacy. You may enjoy real Rajasthani cuisine, browse souvenir shops, and take in live cultural folk entertainment. For those who enjoy the great outdoors, there are camel safaris and row boat rides. Afterward, you’ll be dropped off at the hotel so you can relax.
