Itinerary

A representative from India Wonderland will greet you at the Chennai International Airport and drive you to the hotel. This marks the beginning of your 6-night, 7-day South India Cultural Tour Packages. Check in at the hotel after your arrival and rest for a while. Chennai, the capital city of Tamil Nadu, popularly regarded as the 'Gateway to the South', represents a distinctive culture. The city is a perfect blend of modernity and tradition. The evening is free for leisurely activities. You can treat yourself to a leisurely stroll around the markets of the city and try out Chennai's special dosa, or uttapam. Return to the hotel for dinner and an overnight stay.

After breakfast, get ready to explore the famous temples in Chennai. Visit the famous temples dedicated to Lord Muruga, including the Parthasarathy Temple and Vadapalani Temple. In the late afternoon, you will be driven to Chennai Airport to catch a flight to Tirupati. Tirupati is an ancient Hindu temple city located in the state of Andhra Pradesh. This historic town finds its references in the Puranas. The city is well regarded for its renowned temples and shrines dedicated to Hindu gods and goddesses. On your arrival at Tirupati, check in at the hotel and proceed to explore the Tirupati Temple. One of the most famous pilgrimage sites of the Hindus, the famous Tirumala Venkateswara Temple, also popularly called the Tirupati Balaji Temple, is situated in the hills of Tirumala. The temple is dedicated to Lord Balaji and invites around one lakh devotees per day. After that, visit the other temples located in and around Tirupati, including the temple dedicated to Sri Padmavathi Devi at Tiruchanoor, the temple of Sri Kalyana Venkateswara Swamy at Srinivasa Mangapuram, Kapila Theertham in Tirupati town at the foot of Tirumala Hills, and the temple of Sri Kalahasteeswara at Srikalahasti. Overnight stay at the hotel.

After breakfast head towards the airport to board a flight to Chennai. Upon arrival, check in at the hotel and rest. Later, head out to explore the notable churches in the city, such as San Thome Basilica and St. Mary Church. In the afternoon, you’ll explore the Kalakshetra, a traditional dance institute started in 1936 by Rukmini Devi. Finish your day with a leisurely walk across the Marina Beach. Unwind and enjoy the magnificent sun sinking over the horizon. Head back to the hotel for dinner followed by a restful sleep.

After breakfast, get ready to move to Kanchipuram. Kanchipuram, known as the ‘City of Thousand Temples', is an important pilgrimage site for Hindus. On arrival, check in to the hotel and unwind. Fill the afternoon with an exciting sightseeing tour of temples in the city. Explore the Sri Subramaniya Swami Temple and the Ekambareswarar Temple, which is devoted to Shiva and Parvati. This temple encompasses a sacred mango tree in its courtyard. In the evening, explore the local markets and shop for some high-quality Kanchipuram silk sarees, which are world-famous. Return to the hotel for dinner and a peaceful slumber.

The fifth day of your South India Pilgrimage Tour will be filled with devotion as you’ll embark on a sightseeing of some of the well-known temples in the city. Explore the 8th-century Kailasanathar Temple, adorned with sandstone carvings; and the Ulagalanda Perumal Temple, which houses a huge statue of Lord Vishnu. After having your lunch, go to explore Sri Kamakshi Amman Temple and Sri Vaikunda Perumal Temple. Complete your day tour with a stroll through the local markets, where you can shop for handicrafts. Have dinner and stay overnight at the hotel.

After breakfast, spend some leisure time at the hotel followed by a drive to Mahabalipuram in the afternoon. Mahabalipuram is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a historic coastal town located on the shore of the Bay of Bengal. It is home to an incredible array of temples and structures from the 7th and 8th centuries. After arriving in Mahabalipuram, check into the beach resort. Spend the evening visiting some of the city's most well-known beaches and unwinding. Later, have dinner with traditional seafood and spend the night at the beach resort.

The seventh day of your South India Pilgrimage Tour will go into exploring some of the famous tourist attractions in Mahabalipuram, including the intricately decorated Shore temple, the Pancha Rathas (temples shaped like chariots), the Krishna Mandapam temple, and many more. Spend the evening exploring some of the beaches in the city, followed by a seafood dinner. Overnight stay at the hotel.

Post breakfast, check out of the hotel, and move to Madurai. Visiting this ancient city will have you wondering about the evolution of culture, traditions, and civilization. Upon arrival, check in at the hotel and relax. You have the evening free to engage in relaxing activities. After dinner, spend the night at the hotel.

The day is going to be filled with an overwhelming sightseeing tour of the city. Visit the famous Meenakshi Amman Temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva and his third-eye wife, Meenakshi. Built in Dravidian style, this multi-tiered temple is covered in bright carvings of mythical figures. The outermost corridors of the temple are lined with stone-carved pillars, which are said to induce musical notes upon tapping. Later, indulge in an engrossing Aarti ceremony at the temple. In the evening, you will visit the Thirumalai Nayak Palace. Have dinner and return to the hotel for an overnight stay.

You’ll be transferred to Rameshwaram by our representative, after dinner. It is situated on the Pamban Island of Tamil Nadu and is separated from mainland India by the Pamban channel. On arriving in Rameshwaram, complete the check-in formalities and relax. You have the evening to yourself to explore the city. Spend the night at the hotel.

The eleventh day of your South India Pilgrimage Tour awaits a sightseeing of the pilgrimage sites in Rameshwaram. First, visit the Sri Ramanathaswamy Temple. There are 22 holy springs at the temple, which are thought to have therapeutic qualities. Next, visit the Ghanthamathana Parvatham, which offers lovely views of the island. Afterward, pay a visit to Dhanushkodi (one of the Tirthas) and Sethu Karai (a bridge of floating stones believed to have been constructed by Lord Rama across the sea to Sri Lanka). Later on, spend the night at the hotel.

In the morning, you’ll be transferred to Madurai, from where you’ll board a flight to Pondicherry (Puducherry). On arrival at Pondicherry Airport, our representative will drive you to Auroville. Auroville is an experimental township that took birth from an eco-utopian vision and the cumulative efforts of Sri Aurobindo Ghosh and Mirra Alfassa (the Mother). Founded in 1968, Auroville was created by housing 50,000 people from some 60 nations around the world with a promise to reinstate faith in humanity. On your arrival, check in at the pre-booked guest house. Enjoy the evening with a visit to the Matrimandir, present in the center of the town and indulge in a silent concentration. Overnight stay at the guest house.

Start the morning with a visit to the Quiet Healing Centre and indulge in one of the many rejuvenating therapies offered by this place. Also take part in integral yoga, a special transformational practice developed by Sri Aurobindo and The Mother. Complete the day by tasting a mix of local and international food in one of Auroville's eateries. Afterward, make your way to the airport to catch a flight to Chennai, then another to Puttaparthi. Puttaparthi is a small town located in Andhra Pradesh and is famous for being the birthplace of Sri Sathya Sai Baba, a spiritual leader. On your arrival, check in at the pre-booked lodge and rest for the night.

After a hearty breakfast, tour the town's popular landmarks to start the day. Visit the Samadhi Shrine, the final resting place of Sathya Sai Baba; the Sathyabhama Temple; and the Sathya Sai Ashram, which is home to several other attractions like the Chaitanya Jyoti Museum, Gokulam, Meditation Tree, and the Wish Fulfilling Tree, which is believed to have special powers and to grant the wishes of those who pray to it with sincerity. Relish dinner at the lodge and sleep peacefully.
